Teenage Phenomenon Blades Brown Earns PGA Tour Card the Hard Way
Nineteen-year-old Blades Brown secured a PGA Tour card with a runner-up finish in the Korn Ferry Tour finale and became the youngest player to earn promotion from the developmental tour.

- Sunday did not produce exactly the result 19-year-old Blades Brown wanted: he squandered a 54-hole lead for the fourth time.
- But it ultimately delivered what he wanted next — a full season of starts on the PGA Tour.
- He turned professional at 17 and has spent much of the past two seasons on the Korn Ferry Tour, with occasional PGA Tour starts.
- He flashed winning form several times this summer without quite getting across the finish line, but his floor has been extremely high: he has made 16 of 18 cuts and recorded five top-10 finishes.
Sunday did not produce exactly the result 19-year-old Blades Brown wanted: he squandered a 54-hole lead for the fourth time. But it ultimately delivered what he wanted next — a full season of starts on the PGA Tour.
Brown is already well known, partly because of his unusual golf-related name and partly because of his impressive game. He turned professional at 17 and has spent much of the past two seasons on the Korn Ferry Tour, with occasional PGA Tour starts. He flashed winning form several times this summer without quite getting across the finish line, but his floor has been extremely high: he has made 16 of 18 cuts and recorded five top-10 finishes.
That means Brown’s runner-up finish in Sunday’s final Korn Ferry Tour event will put him all over PGA Tour television in the spring of 2027. He will still be 19 then, having set the record as the youngest player to earn a PGA Tour card through Korn Ferry Tour graduation.
Before he truly entered contention this weekend, Brown was asked whether his achievements at such a young age really resonated with him.
“I mean, a little bit,” he admitted. “One thing I know is I always tell my dad the golf ball doesn’t care how old I am. The golf ball doesn’t know if you’re 60 years old or 19 years old, so I would say that.”
Brown may be asked to repeat that quote several more times at the start of 2027. He will remain a teenager until next year’s PGA Championship.
Brown finished ninth in the season-long Korn Ferry Tour standings, giving him solid status when 2027 begins. He may have to be patient during the early-season tournaments, as ninth on the Korn Ferry Tour will leave him right on the alternate-list borderline for several of the more desirable West Coast events, including the Phoenix Open.
Still, if his results so far are any indication, Brown is comfortable playing a heavy schedule. Between his 18 Korn Ferry Tour starts in 2026, he made 11 PGA Tour starts, made nine cuts and recorded seven top-20 finishes. He also earned Special Temporary Membership on the PGA Tour for the rest of the season, but chose to spend more time pursuing the promotion route through its developmental tour.
The clearest conclusion so far is that his floor is extremely high. Now Brown gets to show us what his ceiling looks like.
