‘No lawsuits anymore’: Patrick Reed has earned Rory McIlroy’s ‘respect’ post-LIV exit

The long-standing rivalry between Rory McIlroy and Patrick Reed appears to be cooling. Following Reed's defection to LIV Golf and the subsequent legal tension—marked by a high-profile subpoena served to McIlroy by Reed’s counsel in late 2022—the two have experienced years of conflict. However, as Josh Schrock reports for Golf.com, the situation has shifted. Reed left LIV Golf in January, served a one-year PGA Tour suspension, and successfully played his way back to the American circuit by finishing in the top 10 of the DP World Tour’s Race to Dubai standings, including wins in Dubai and Qatar. “There’s no lawsuits anymore, so that helps,” McIlroy remarked at the DP World India Championship. He added that he respects Reed as a competitor and believes the way Reed has “put his head down” and allowed his performance to speak for itself has earned the respect of his peers. Reed, who currently leads the Race to Dubai standings, expressed similar sentiments, stating that while his initial move to LIV Golf damaged his standing with some players, his efforts to earn his way back have helped repair those relationships. Both players are currently competing at the Delhi Golf Club as the season approaches its finale.
