A new broadcast home for women's team golf
Sky Sports confirmed on 4 November 2026 that it had secured exclusive broadcast rights to WTGL in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The agreement covers the women's team league's inaugural 2026 and 2027 seasons. Play is scheduled to begin on 8 November 2026 at SoFi Center, the indoor venue in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Sky says it will show every match, including the 20–23 December postseason play-offs. In the same announcement it said it had extended its coverage of the men's TGL by a further two years.
The news is about distribution rights, not the creation of WTGL. TMRW Sports and the LPGA announced the league earlier in the year; team rosters were unveiled in August and US television partners ESPN and ION were confirmed in September. The November announcement fills in an important part of the international distribution map for two established golf viewing markets.
The competition viewers will see
WTGL brings the technology-driven indoor team concept used by the men's TGL into the women's game. The format combines simulated golf shots with physical playing elements and a real putting surface. Team decision-making, strategic risk and in-match player audio form part of the presentation. It should not be confused with a conventional LPGA Tour stroke-play event.
The inaugural competition has five teams with five-player rosters: Atlanta Drive GC, Boston Common Golf, Los Angeles Golf Club, Motor City Golf Club and New York Golf Club. The clubs share branding with counterparts in men's TGL, but this is a separate women's competition with its own line-ups. WTGL performances are not automatically LPGA Tour results, prize-money standings or world-ranking points.
A roster designed for an international audience
Charley Hull is part of Atlanta Drive GC; fellow English player Lottie Woad represents Boston Common Golf. Thailand's Jeeno Thitikul appears on the Motor City Golf Club roster. The wider player pool also includes Minjee Lee, Ina Yoon, Yuka Saso, Céline Boutier, Lydia Ko and Rose Zhang, alongside other major champions and prominent international competitors.
The significance of a broadcast contract lies in sustained visibility, rather than in the headline alone. Capturing decisions between teammates and the immediate consequences of bold shot selections could introduce golf viewers to players they do not routinely follow on the traditional tour. Whether this turns into a durable new audience, or delivers commercial returns, cannot be established until matches have been played and audiences measured.
What the agreement does—and does not—cover
Sky's exclusivity is specified for the UK and Ireland, not globally. In the United States, WTGL previously announced ESPN and ION as separate broadcast partners on 2 September 2026. The 8 November opening and December play-off dates refer to scheduled women's league fixtures, not completed results.
