Si Woo Kim returned to South Korea with a chance to claim his first DP World Tour title, but the 2026 Genesis Championship ended with a share of fourth at ten under par (274 strokes). The four-time PGA TOUR winner started Sunday three shots behind the leader at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club in Cheonan. An even-par 71 in the final round meant he could not close the gap.
A Sunday that never quite caught fire. Kim began the final round on ten under, tied third and still within striking distance. Japan's Yuto Katsuragawa was three strokes ahead after equalling the course record with a Saturday 63. Kim made three birdies but gave all three shots back with bogeys. His late recovery on the back nine was not enough to improve the overall score, leaving him among the leading finishers rather than in the winner's circle before a home crowd.
The final scores. Katsuragawa took the trophy at −13 (271) after an even-par 71 on Sunday. Frenchmen Frédéric Lacroix and Martin Couvra shared second at −11 (273). Kim joined an unusually crowded tie for fourth at −10 alongside Sanghun Shin, Open champion Ryan Fox, Casey Jarvis, Antoine Rozner, Filippo Celli and Jorge Campillo. One stroke separated that group from the runners-up; three separated them from the champion.
Why the result matters. Kim entered the week among the headline contenders and as the highest-ranked player in the field. His four PGA TOUR victories established him internationally, yet a DP World Tour win has remained elusive. Winning at home would have added a new chapter to a career built largely in the United States. Finishing tied fourth was a strong performance in a multinational field, but it did not provide that breakthrough.
The wider picture. The Genesis Championship was played 22–25 October at par-71 Woo Jeong Hills Country Club and co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and KPGA Tour. The win was Katsuragawa's second on the DP World Tour, carrying significant implications for his 2027 playing rights and the Race to Dubai playoffs.
