A home-tour return, officially confirmed. On October 26, 2026, the Japan Golf Tour Organization (JGTO) confirmed that Rikuya Hoshino will play the Vantelin Tokai Classic from October 29 through November 1. The 30-year-old will return to the West Course at Miyoshi Country Club in Aichi Prefecture for his first Japan Golf Tour appearance of the 2026 season. This distinction matters: Hoshino has already competed internationally this year, so the announcement does not mean he is returning to professional golf after a season-long absence.

A player with a genuinely international résumé. Hoshino has won six titles on the Japan Golf Tour. His breakthrough on the European circuit came at the 2024 Qatar Masters, where a closing 68 secured his first DP World Tour trophy. His results that season helped him gain PGA TOUR playing opportunities. His career now spans elite competition at home, in Europe and in the United States. A neck-related interruption kept him away from competition for more than two months in 2025, according to his official JGTO biography, but he later resumed playing. The new tournament announcement should therefore be read as a domestic schedule update rather than a declaration of a fresh injury comeback.

History at Miyoshi. The JGTO player profile records Hoshino as tied for sixth at the 2025 Vantelin Tokai Classic. That offers an interesting reference point as he returns to the same venue. The 2026 edition is the tournament's 56th staging, with dates approximately one month later than its traditional slot. There is no verified basis yet for predicting how this schedule change will affect scoring.

A strong Japanese field. Yuto Katsuragawa, who grew up in Aichi, is also set to compete just days after winning the Genesis Championship in South Korea on October 25, his second DP World Tour title. Defending champion Suguru Shimoke is due back as well. Those three names give the event a compelling mix of established international experience, very recent winning form and home-course title defence.

What the official figures say. The JGTO lists a total purse of ¥110 million, with ¥22 million for the winner. The field is scheduled for 108 players, and the top 60 and ties will advance after 36 holes. Play begins on Thursday, October 29, with the final round scheduled for Sunday, November 1. These are confirmed event details, not completed tournament results; as of October 26, no 2026 finishing position or winner can be reported.

The question worth following. Can Hoshino translate his experience of competing across several tours into a strong week on a course where he finished inside the top six a year ago? His opening two rounds will provide the first concrete answer, rather than any assumption based solely on his previous titles.
