Tournament completed; regular guest access is still ahead
Pinheirinho Golf Course, in the Comporta area of Portugal’s Alentejo coast, hosted the inaugural Portugal Legends Championship from 30 October to 1 November 2026. The Staysure Legends Tour tournament has finished, but that does not mean the course is already fully open for regular visitor play. Golf Business News reported on 3 November that the venue is targeting an official opening in March 2027.
The championship marked Pinheirinho’s first appearance on the international professional circuit. The Legends Tour recorded Jean Hugo’s winning 20-under-par total, including a closing 62. Those numbers belong to the tournament story; the important question for visitors is when they can book a round.
The architecture of the course
Portuguese architect Jorge Santana da Silva designed the 18-hole, par-72 layout, which measures approximately 6,530 metres. The holes run through coastal dunes and pine woodland, with contoured fairways, strategically placed bunkers and a lake of roughly 3.5 hectares. The par-three 17th, featuring an island green, is a distinctive feature. These course details are described by the development and industry reporting.
Pinheirinho forms part of the approximately 400-hectare Pinheirinho Comporta estate developed by VIC Properties. Its clubhouse and restaurant were designed by Jacobsen Arquitetura. Other hotel and residential components are part of the wider development; they should not all be assumed to have opened.
What has been said about public access
Portuguese outlet ECO, citing the developer in late October, reported three envisaged ways to play once the course opens more broadly: membership, paying a green fee or staying at the estate. Neither a confirmed exact opening day nor verified public tee-time prices and booking terms are available in the checked sources. March 2027 is the announced plan, not a completed launch.
Several professionals who played the Portugal Legends Championship praised the course condition. Those remarks are player assessments, not independent promises of performance or accessibility. Hosting a successful professional tournament demonstrates tournament readiness; everyday guest access is a separate milestone.
