Morocco takes a new step in beginner golf instruction
The Royal Moroccan Golf Federation (FRMG) announced on 27 October 2026 that it had completed its first national seminar for beginner-golf instructors. The training took place 20–24 October in partnership with The R&A under the Community Golf Instructor (CGI) programme.
The federation said attendees were split into two groups for theoretical and practical sessions. Two prospective national tutors received additional support to prepare them to help extend the programme across Morocco. FRMG did not disclose the overall number of participants or the seminar venue; neither detail should be assumed.
Making the first step into golf easier
A Community Golf Instructor is intended to help people experience the game for the first time, learn fundamental shots and participate in welcoming, safely organised sessions. Such instructors complement qualified professional golf coaches; they are not a replacement for them. Training people locally could make beginner programmes easier to deliver beyond the established club-academy system.
The R&A has used CGI internationally. In February 2026, it reported a rollout in Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda, alongside a train-the-trainers element intended to help national federations deliver future courses. That experience explains the wider model behind the Moroccan initiative, but it is not evidence of results already achieved in Morocco.
What is known — and what remains unconfirmed
The R&A distinguishes community-level introductory instruction from professional coaching. It also explains that the Rules of Amateur Status permit amateurs to receive payment for instruction only under specific conditions, including appropriately approved programmes. FRMG's statement does not say that all seminar attendees now hold professional coaching qualifications or permission to teach for payment.
The verified development is therefore the completion of Morocco's first national CGI seminar and preparation of two prospective national tutors. FRMG has yet to announce the number of certified instructors, a schedule for regional delivery or participation targets. Those outcomes will need to be assessed as the programme develops.
