Walker Cup: Sunday morning foursomes tee times

The second and final day of the Walker Cup—the amateur team match between the United States and Great Britain and Ireland—begins Sunday, Sept. 6, at Lahinch with the morning foursomes session. The home team leads by one point after the opening day.

Following an impressive comeback by mid-amateur Stuart Grehan against world No. 1 amateur Preston Stout, Great Britain and Ireland moved within reach of its first Walker Cup victory in 11 years. On paper, the United States should have the advantage: nine American players are inside the top 12 of the World Amateur Golf Ranking, and the U.S. has won the previous five Walker Cups.

But with strong home support and Grehan playing brilliantly, the home team finished the first day ahead. Luke Poulter defeated Miles Russell, while Niall Sheils Donegan also recorded his second win of the day after an awkward start in the morning session. Grehan and Sheils Donegan will return Sunday morning.
