Jino Titikul, ranked first in the world, made an impressive comeback in Shanghai, marking a historic moment in the LPGA. This year, the tournament was rich with diversity in winners—26 unique winners across 25 events. However, a dominant leader was missing. Titikul, who had previously won the Mizuho Americas Open earlier this season, entered the final round trailing Minami Katsu and Minjee Lee by two strokes. Katsu, who led after 13 holes, had a chance to become the 27th unique winner of the season, but Titikul prevented that from happening. Birdies on the 14th, 15th, and 16th holes followed by an eagle on the 17th allowed Titikul to catch up with Katsu. In the playoff, they exchanged pars over four holes until Titikul made the winning stroke on the fifth hole. This victory served as redemption for Titikul after a mishap at the Kroger Queen City Championship, where she missed four times on the 72nd hole. After the victory in Shanghai, Titikul said, "Now I carry less burden on my soul." Originally from Ratchaburi, Thailand, Titikul has always kept a humble approach, aiming to provide a better life for her family since her early days at the driving range. "Every major for me is just to make the cut," she says, showing that her ambitions are grounded in realism. Nevertheless, despite her humility, Titikul displays a fiery competitive spirit. Her victory in Shanghai is a sign that she is ready for new heights.
