Italian golfer Gregorio de Leo received a one-stroke penalty for slow play during the final round of the Turkish Airlines Open, part of the DP World Tour. The incident occurred on the par-3 11th hole when the 26-year-old exceeded the allowed time for a stroke by more than 30 seconds beyond the basic 50-second limit, while under official monitoring.
According to the DP World Tour Pace of Play Policy, a one-stroke penalty is applied in such situations. De Leo, who was only one shot off the lead at the time, was vying for his first DP World Tour title. Despite the penalty, he managed to save par on the 11th hole, but his position on the leaderboard worsened.
Following the incident, De Leo birdied the par-5 12th hole but then made bogeys on the 15th and 17th holes. He ultimately finished the tournament tied for seventh (T7), four strokes behind the winner, Mikael Lindberg. Despite the penalty and disappointment, this result marked Gregorio de Leo's best finish of the 2026 season and moved him up to 47th in the Race to Dubai Rankings. The incident highlights the strict enforcement of pace of play rules in professional tournaments.
