North Rhine-Westphalia maps out a team season involving more than 1,400 entries

On 3 November 2026, the North Rhine-Westphalia Golf Association (Golfverband Nordrhein-Westfalen, GV NRW) released schedules for the region's 2027 team leagues. The association said its geographical and divisional allocations had to account for the complexity of more than 1,400 teams across the competition structure.

These are forward-looking fixtures, not results. The announcement covers the women's and men's AK 30, AK 50 and AK 65 age-category leagues, Jugendliga NRW, the women's and men's regional Deutsche Golf Liga (DGL) Gruppenliga, and the Willy-Schniewind-Mannschaftspreis (WSMP). The regional total must not be conflated with the participation figure for the separate nationwide DGL competition.

A new fourth tier for women aged 65 and over

The clearest structural change concerns the women's AK 65 category. For 2027, GV NRW has introduced a fourth division. According to the association, this tier will contain both newly registered teams and teams that ended the 2026 third division in fourth, fifth or sixth place.

That makes the change more than a renamed league: participating clubs must check which division and geographical group they have been placed into before arranging home fixtures, team selections and travel. The announcement does not claim that any matches for 2027 have already been played, nor does it name future champions.

A fourth level gives the women's over-65 team competition a different structure for the upcoming season. The federation has not in this report supplied a new overall figure for individual female golfers, so the creation of the tier should not be described as proof of a specific rise in player participation.

What the published schedules cover

Adult age-category golf: separate women's and men's team leagues for AK 30, AK 50 and AK 65. These are club competitions, not professional-tour events.

Junior golf: the Jugendliga NRW is also included in the schedule release, bringing the regional junior team programme into the same planning phase.

Other club competitions: the release includes both DGL Gruppenliga pathways and the Willy-Schniewind-Mannschaftspreis. The WSMP is North Rhine-Westphalia's established team championship for member clubs and has its own conditions and competition format; it is not interchangeable with junior league play or DGL fixtures.

What clubs should verify before planning travel

The association notes that a small number of division assignments may differ from expectations, in many cases because confirmation or feedback was not received. The geographical draw was balanced against the operational complexity of more than 1,400 team entries.

Captains can use the federation's published group tables and expand the arrow beside each group to reveal its home-playing dates. Clubs should check their exact allocation instead of assuming last year's group remains unchanged.

For North Rhine-Westphalia's member clubs, the announcement is both an administrative milestone and a notable development for senior women's golf. Actual 2027 results remain to be decided on the course.
