The 12th East Lake Cup opens Monday, October 26, at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. Eight US collegiate golf teams—four men's and four women's—will compete over three days, with the team champions decided Wednesday, October 28.
The men's field features Auburn, Arizona, Oklahoma State and UCLA. Arkansas, Eastern Michigan, Oklahoma State and USC make up the women's competition. Seven universities are represented overall because Oklahoma State is competing in both divisions. The invitation-based field draws heavily from teams that reached the knockout stages of the NCAA Championships, giving established rivals a fresh head-to-head test early in the new college season.
The format makes East Lake Cup more than another low-score contest. An 18-hole stroke-play round on October 26 determines the men's and women's individual champions and seeds the team brackets. Match-play semifinals follow on October 27. The team finals and third-place matches are scheduled for October 28, so Wednesday's head-to-head results, rather than aggregate team scores, will decide the titles.
Among the men's contenders are reigning NCAA champion Auburn and NCAA runner-up UCLA. On the women's side, USC reached the NCAA final, while Eastern Michigan returns to a prominent national stage after making a landmark NCAA semifinal appearance.
East Lake is one of the most recognizable venues in American golf and hosts the PGA TOUR's season-ending TOUR Championship. The collegiate event is presented in cooperation with the East Lake Foundation, Golf Channel and the club. General admission is free. Golf Channel is scheduled to broadcast each day from 3 to 6 p.m. US Eastern Time, while organizers provide visitor and schedule details online.
As of October 25, no competitive East Lake Cup rounds have been played. This is a preview, not a results report. Dates, teams and format are corroborated by the organizers, Golf Channel, and college team announcements published October 24–25.
