A tighter Race to Dubai cut-off now determines 2027 cards
The Genesis Championship in South Korea concluded on October 25, 2026, marking the end of the DP World Tour regular season. The crucial membership line for 2027 full playing rights through the Race to Dubai is now the top 100 rather than the previous top 110. The policy was not suddenly introduced that Sunday: the Tournament Committee approved it and the Tour announced it in September 2025, effective from the start of the 2026 season. October 25 is the day the new threshold had practical consequences for players' 2027 status.
The Tour's official Genesis Championship membership preview confirms both the 100-player line and what happens just below it. These are professional-tour participation and membership regulations, not amendments to the R&A/USGA Rules of Golf or the World Handicap System.
What each ranking band receives
Positions 1–100: full DP World Tour membership for 2027 by virtue of the Race to Dubai ranking. Other exemptions can coexist: a player outside the top 100 might still hold playing rights under another category, including a winner's exemption.
Positions 101–110: Category 18 conditional membership. Initially these players sit below Qualifying School graduates in the entry priority order, and they are re-ranked with those graduates during 2027. Conditional membership is not a guarantee of a place in every field. Tournament size and category priority remain crucial.
Positions 111–125: this group should not be conflated with Category 18. The Tour's new policy uses it as a distinct priority band when placing HotelPlanner Tour Category 19 qualifiers. A player's other exemptions must be assessed separately.
Two other routes now offer fewer full cards
Under the Tour's original approved announcement, the number of full cards awarded by the HotelPlanner Tour falls from 20 to 15. Players ranked 16th–20th in the 2026 Road to Mallorca receive Category 19, ranking immediately below Race to Dubai positions 111–125.
At Qualifying School 2026, the DP World Tour card cut-off moves from the top 20 and ties to the top 15 and ties. These are independent qualification routes. Their numbers should not be mistaken for extensions of the Race to Dubai top-100 membership limit.
Do not confuse the top 100 with the play-off top 70
The leading 70 available players after the Genesis Championship move to the Abu Dhabi play-off event; the top 50 after Abu Dhabi contest the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. The 70/50 limits concern entry to the 2026 play-offs. The 100 and 101–110 bands concern 2027 tour membership. A player can retain a full card and still miss the November play-offs.
Effective date and official standing
These are approved, operative rules, announced by the DP World Tour in September 2025, effective from the start of the 2026 season. October 25, 2026 is the regular-season ranking cut-off that applies them to the 2027 cards, not the date they were newly adopted. Individual entry rights also depend on the Tour's official priority categories and any separate exemptions.
