Taoyuan, Taiwan — 27 October 2026. Chiara Tamburlini has returned to Sunrise Golf & Country Club, where she captured one of her three Ladies European Tour (LET) victories in 2024. Her latest appearance at the Wistron Ladies Open, however, comes with a different storyline. Speaking in an interview published by the LET, the Swiss golfer discussed a difficult season on the LPGA Tour and the value of rediscovering confidence in familiar surroundings.
A demanding transition after European success
Tamburlini topped the 2024 LET Order of Merit before spending much of the 2026 season competing on the LPGA Tour. In her own assessment, the year involved numerous changes and she was unable to produce the level of golf she wanted. Those changes also affected her confidence and made it harder to respond constructively when rounds turned against her. These are her own reflections, rather than a medical or psychological assessment made by this publication.
Returning to the LET in recent weeks has helped her reconnect with the competitive attitude she associates with her best golf. At the Hero Women's Indian Open she finished tied for ninth. Her final round illustrated the complexity of the week: seven birdies, yet an overall score of one over par for the round. The birdies do not tell the whole scoring story. What mattered to Tamburlini was feeling willing to fight through difficult stretches instead of being overwhelmed by them.
A venue linked to happier memories
The Wistron Ladies Open takes place 29 October–1 November at Sunrise Golf & Country Club in the Yangmei District of Taoyuan. Tamburlini won the tournament here in 2024 and recorded another top-ten finish in 2025. That familiarity gives her useful course knowledge, but does not guarantee a strong result.
Her return has a social dimension as well. In the LET interview, Tamburlini spoke warmly about the atmosphere of the tour, where competitors can spend time together between rounds. Following an unsettled season, such everyday moments are part of what makes this return meaningful to her.
Crosswinds, fairways and putting adjustments
Tamburlini singled out wind, especially crosswinds, as a recurring challenge at Sunrise. Finding fairways from the tee should therefore matter when planning approach shots. Her comments were tactical observations about the venue, not a claim that any particular driving statistic guarantees a low score.
The greens present another adjustment. She contrasted the firm, fast surfaces encountered in India with the different grass and potentially slower putting conditions in Taiwan, particularly after rain. Players must adapt how they judge pace as well as line; she did not provide measured green-speed figures.
Tamburlini also recalled the positive experience of working with a local caddie during her 2024 victory and expressed hope of reconnecting. She did not announce that the arrangement had been confirmed.
The story beyond the leaderboard
A successful season on one tour does not automatically translate into immediate success on another. Tamburlini's interview captures how an accomplished player can rethink progress when results disappoint: finding renewed energy, staying competitive after mistakes and treating familiar surroundings as an opportunity rather than a promise. Heading into this edition, her stated priority is to rebuild momentum and finish the year feeling better about her golf.
