Nine robotic mowers for an established Cyprus course

On 27 October 2026, Aphrodite Hills Resort detailed a new approach to routine turf maintenance at PGA National Cyprus. The resort is deploying nine Husqvarna battery-powered robotic mowers during October: two CEORA 546 EPOS units and seven Automower 580L EPOS machines. According to Golf Business News, quoting resort and supplier representatives, Aphrodite Hills is the first golf resort in Cyprus to introduce robotic mowing in this way.

The 18-hole championship course, designed by Cabell B. Robinson, forms part of Aphrodite Hills Resort at 3 Aphrodite Avenue, Kouklia 8509, Paphos district, Cyprus. Its Mediterranean setting includes substantial changes in elevation, natural slopes and coastal views.

Where the machines will work

The announced rollout concerns fairways, semi-rough and rough. It is not an announcement that robotic mowers will replace the greenkeeping team or automatically cut the putting greens. Both mower families use Husqvarna's satellite-based EPOS positioning technology and operate within digitally defined working boundaries. The grounds team can adjust mowing schedules and areas remotely, including temporary exclusion zones around maintenance work.

Combining the larger CEORA units with Automower machines gives the resort options for managing different turf areas. The precise hole-by-hole assignment, total coverage and actual operating hours have not yet been disclosed, so any specific productivity figures would be premature.

Why course managers are interested

Course superintendent David Blair said the objective is to protect playing conditions while reducing repetitive work and leaving trained greenkeepers more time for specialist course preparation. Automated, regular cutting may help maintain consistent presentation, but the human team remains responsible for agronomy, course setup and decisions about turf health, bunkers and recovery work.

Because the mowers are battery powered, there are no direct exhaust emissions while cutting, and the equipment is expected to make less noise than conventional fuel-driven machinery. The resort has not yet published measured fuel savings, whole-life emissions data or before-and-after assessments of course condition. Those are goals or potential benefits, not established results.

Part of a wider investment programme

The fleet follows the completion of a second phase of course upgrades and the opening of the PGA National Golf Academy, which features a TrackMan Range, coaching studios and short-game practice facilities. A phased programme of bunker refurbishment and other visitor-facing improvements forms part of the wider resort investment plan. This is a change in how the existing course is maintained, not the construction of another golf course.

For visitors: the 27 October announcement did not specify a course closure or new tee-time restrictions linked to the rollout. Check live start times and any temporary maintenance arrangements directly with the club. The purchase price and quantified operating savings have not been made public.

Information on the machines and comments by the resort team were reported by Golf Business News on 27 October 2026; the venue's name and address were cross-checked against the official Aphrodite Hills Resort website.
