An anniversary finale in Prague
The Czech Golf Federation (Česká golfová federace, ČGF) wrapped up its 2026 tournament calendar on 24 October with the President Trophy at Golf Club Praha in Motol, Prague. Held since 2001, the competition brings together presidents and chairs of member golf clubs. This edition carried extra significance: Golf Club Praha was celebrating 100 years since its foundation in 1926.
Eighteen club presidents played the 18-hole event in blustery autumn conditions. Although the tournament also serves as an annual meeting of club leaders, the main gross division is a competitive stroke-play event with a published official leaderboard.
Vrbický goes back-to-back
Tomáš Vrbický of Golf Club Prostějov retained the President Trophy with a gross score of 78 strokes. The win followed his first title in 2025, giving him back-to-back victories and a three-stroke margin over the next finishers.
Paul Dennis, representing PGA National Czech Republic, was second on 81. Jan Hovězák of Sokrates Golf & Country Club also scored 81 and placed third under the event's published ranking. Four-time former winner Karel Štaubert was fourth with 82. These are gross stroke totals, not points or net handicap-adjusted scores.
Vrbický also received a centenary President's Cup from Golf Club Praha. He spoke about the personal importance of receiving a commemorative golf-heart trophy connected to the late Jan Schovánek.
A fifth win in the net division
The separate net handicap division went to Jan Peroutka of G&CC Svobodné Hamry, his fifth President Trophy win in that category. His official net score was 71, followed by Petr Pražák of GC Lipiny with 72 and Petr Březina of Zámecký GC Kravaře with 73. Net scores incorporate handicap adjustments and should not be compared directly with the gross leaderboard.
More than a ceremonial event
Golf Club Praha was founded on 15 March 1926, making it a landmark in the development of organised Czech golf. Its Motol course has nine holes, while President Trophy participants completed an 18-hole round. The event followed the federation's preparatory conference of 23 October, at which member clubs were due to discuss the federation's programmes and priorities for 2027.
This is not a DP World Tour or professional ranking tournament. Its significance lies in the local club network: an annual competitive gathering of Czech golf leaders, staged this year at a historic club's centenary. The winner and scores were checked against the ČGF's official 2026 results sheet and its 24 October report.
