Scottie Scheffler’s quiet act of kindness at his home club

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is known for his dominance on the course, but he is equally adept at brightening someone’s day. On a recent episode of GOLF’s Subpar podcast, co-host Colt Knost shared a touching moment from a round he played with Scheffler at the historic Shady Oaks Country Club in Dallas. Knost, receiving five strokes in a friendly match, managed to tie the game after a birdie on the par-5 18th hole. However, the highlight of the day occurred just before the final hole. As they walked near the driving range, Scheffler spotted a group of kids practicing and immediately recognized a young golfer. He called out, asking if he was the junior club champion. When the boy confirmed it, Scheffler walked over to share a high-five and a hug, telling him, “That was awesome. I was so pumped to hear you won.” Knost noted that the gesture made the youngster’s life, and co-host Drew Stoltz joked that the boy would likely be sharing the story for the rest of his life. Knost, who has known Scheffler since childhood, emphasized that this genuine behavior is typical of the player, who avoids the trappings of celebrity and treats people the same way whether or not the cameras are rolling.
