Key points
  • The new Full Toe SP wedges solve this with a full-face groove design, providing 44 percent more groove area than a conventional wedge, combined with an optimized, higher CG to help players gain control around the greens.
  • According to Callaway VP of Global Product Strategy, Jacob Davidson, the Full Toe SP is intended to foster creativity, whether playing from a bunker, rough, or fairway, and regardless of whether the face is open or square.
  • At the heart of the design is Callaway’s Opus SP Spin Pocket platform, which shifts mass higher in the clubhead to raise the CG.
  • In the Full Toe SP, the spin pocket is 18 percent larger than in the Opus SP+ and 35 percent larger than the standard Opus SP, making it Callaway’s highest CG wedge to date.

Callaway’s newest wedge release is designed to address a fundamental challenge in short-game play: the tendency for strikes to drift toward the toe when the face is opened, away from the optimal center of gravity. The new Full Toe SP wedges solve this with a full-face groove design, providing 44 percent more groove area than a conventional wedge, combined with an optimized, higher CG to help players gain control around the greens. According to Callaway VP of Global Product Strategy, Jacob Davidson, the Full Toe SP is intended to foster creativity, whether playing from a bunker, rough, or fairway, and regardless of whether the face is open or square. The wedge is positioned as a go-to solution for difficult lies. At the heart of the design is Callaway’s Opus SP (Spin Pocket) platform, which shifts mass higher in the clubhead to raise the CG. In the Full Toe SP, the spin pocket is 18 percent larger than in the Opus SP+ and 35 percent larger than the standard Opus SP, making it Callaway’s highest CG wedge to date. Combined with Full Face Spin Gen 2.0 grooves, this setup allows for maximum spin and lower, more controlled ball flight. Regarding versatility, Callaway developed two unique grinds for the Full Toe SP. The J-Grind features aggressive heel relief and additional camber, providing forgiveness on heavy strikes. The JW-Grind, available only on the 62-degree model, offers a wider sole and increased bounce, specifically engineered to make bunker play easier without the need to manipulate the clubface. GOLF.com author Jack Hirsh notes that while full-face designs are sometimes overlooked by amateurs, they provide a significant benefit for players struggling with spin control. After hitting with these wedges, Hirsh observed that the ball flight remains low with high spin on square-face shots, while opening the face allows for effortless elevation. The Full Toe SP wedges are priced at $199.99, with pre-orders beginning August 21, 2026.
