Japanese golfer Miyu Yamashita showcased her remarkable skills at the Maybank Championship in Malaysia. Starting the final round eight strokes behind, she managed to finish seven strokes under par, leading her to a playoff victory. This success marked her second win of the season, replicating Atthaya Thitikul's 2022 achievement.
Despite challenging weather conditions, including two rain delays, Yamashita maintained her focus and delivered an outstanding performance. She successfully secured several birdies on the front nine and continued to gain points on the back nine without dropping a bogey. Finishing the tournament 18 strokes under par, Yamashita entered the playoff against H. J. Choi and Hannah Green.
In a decisive moment after another rain delay, Yamashita sunk a crucial six-meter putt to secure her victory. This triumph bolstered her position on the LPGA Tour and marked a significant milestone in her career. Next up for Yamashita is the Japan Classic, which will conclude the Asian leg of the season, followed by The Annika and CME Group Tour Championship.
