Kensei Hirata and Chandler Blanchet share the Butterfield Bermuda Championship’s 36-hole lead on 129 (−13), the PGA Tour confirmed.
Seamus Power, Corey Conners, Eric Cole, Ben Silverman and Danny Walker are one stroke behind on 130.
Hirata shot 64 on Friday. In his post-round interview, he explained that a relatively short course demanding approaches into small areas of the greens suits his game. He singled out his birdie at the par-three 13th as an important moment that maintained his momentum.
Blanchet followed his opening 62 with a 67. He described stronger wind and some awkward positions late in the round, including a blind approach from a sloping lie at the 18th. Earlier, he capitalised on consecutive birdie opportunities at the fifth and sixth holes.
Power’s 64 was bogey-free. The Irishman credited his putting and his comfort at the course. His broader autumn goal is a return to the FedExCup Fall top 100: full status would make planning his schedule less uncertain.
The five-under cut admitted 69 professionals and three amateurs. Defending champion Adam Schenk (+2) was eliminated.
Bermuda is the fourth of eight FedExCup Fall events. The final top 100 secure exempt status for 2027, while positions 51–60 earn entry to the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and Genesis Invitational.
Hirata, Blanchet and Power will play together in Saturday’s third round on October 24. The venue is Port Royal, Bermuda.
