Craig Farrelly claimed his first Staysure Legends Tour title on October 24, 2026, winning the Sergio Melpignano Senior Italian Open at San Domenico Golf in Puglia, Italy. The Englishman posted 193 over three rounds (23 under par) and finished five strokes ahead of the nearest challengers, although the final round proved much tighter than the winning margin suggests.
Farrelly shot 64, 64 and 65. New Zealand's Mark Brown and France's Lionel Alexandre shared second at 18 under. Brown carded the lowest round of the event, a ten-under 62, including 29 strokes for the closing nine holes, but could not catch the leader.
Starting two strokes in front, Farrelly chipped in for eagle at the first, a par five. Alexandre kept up the pressure with birdies and drew level at 19 under after Farrelly bogeyed the 12th. Their duel then turned dramatically on the 13th: Alexandre was forced to take a drop and made double bogey, while Farrelly converted a short birdie putt after an excellent approach. That single hole opened a three-shot gap.
Further birdies at the 14th, 15th and 17th completed Farrelly's closing 65 and secured a five-shot triumph. He acknowledged the contribution of his friend and caddie Jamie, whose judgment he trusts under pressure.
The result has lasting implications beyond the trophy. Farrelly entered the tournament without full playing rights on the senior circuit. The victory guarantees his schedule for the remainder of 2026 and the entire 2027 season, and lifts him to 12th in the Road to Cambodia Order of Merit.
The tour moves to Portugal for the October 30–November 1 Portugal Legends Championship. Results are confirmed by Staysure Legends Tour and the Italian Golf Federation. The Legends Tour is a professional senior circuit for players aged over 50; it is distinct from the DP World Tour.
